Publication is not a finish line — it is the start of a five-year clock. The verified EPD goes live on the Global GreenTag registry and EcoPortal, then is checked, maintained and renewed across its validity so the public record stays true.
Published Once, Maintained for Years
After verification, the EPD owner registers the declaration with the Secretariat, which publishes it on globalgreentag.com and surfaces it through EcoPortal. But a published EPD is a living record: its validity is capped at five years, a yearly maintenance declaration confirms nothing has changed, and any ±10% data shift forces a recalculation. This page follows that whole life — from listing to renewal.

How It Gets Listed — and Stays Listed

Set per category in the PCR and never exceeds five years, after which the EPD must be revised and reissued.
±10%
A shift of ±10% in any declared parameter is significant — recalculate and re-verify (EN 15804, cl. 9).
Annual maintenance
Each year GreenTag requests a signed declaration that nothing has changed — or details of any factor that moved a declared parameter.
Registration & annual fee
A registration fee plus an annual fee per organisation keep the listing active — waived while a product stays Global GreenTagCert™ certified.

The PCR sets the validity ceiling — never more than five years. Across that window the declaration is maintained on an annual cycle, and any significant data change can interrupt the clock at any time.

Published & valid
The verified EPD is live on the registry and EcoPortal. The validity clock starts.
Year 1
Annual check
GreenTag requests a signed declaration that nothing has changed.
Year 2
Annual check
Same yearly confirmation — product & process unchanged.
Year 3
Annual check
The EPD remains listed while the declaration holds true.
Year 4
Annual check
Final maintenance year before the validity ceiling.
Year 5
Revise & reissue
The EPD must be revised and reissued, aligned with renewal certification dates.
The clock can be interrupted. If underlying data changes enough to shift any one declared parameter by ±10% or more, the change is significant and the EPD shall be recalculated and verified (EN 15804, clause 9).
Sole liability stays with the EPD owner — who must notify Global GreenTag whenever a recalculation and re-verification is required, so the registry stays accurate.
When an EPD Leaves the Registry
The register only carries current, conformant declarations. Withdrawn EPDs are removed from the website and all listings, and kept on a separate list that is available on request with the owner's consent.
Expiry without renewal
An expired EPD that is not revised and reissued is withdrawn and removed from the GreenTag website and any other listing the scheme provides.
Unpaid annual fee
EPDs may be withdrawn when yearly administration fees are not paid — the annual fee covers all of an organisation's registered EPDs.
Substantiated non-conformance
Under ISO 17067, a substantiated non-conformity sees the owner formally notified and the EPD withdrawn through GreenTag's suspension & withdrawals procedure.
Owner-requested deregistration
An EPD stays published until the owner asks the Program Operator to deregister and withdraw it — for example when a product is retired.
